Who We Are
About Gary RBI
Empowering student athletes with life lessons while introducing baseball and softball to the youth of Gary, Indiana and Greater Northwest Indiana.
Our Story
Built From the Ground Up
While the city of Gary has a rich tradition of producing collegiate and professional athletes, it hasn't had an athlete become a professional baseball player since LaTroy Hawkins debuted with the Minnesota Twins in 1995.
Gary RBI was created in 2018, inspired by Gary Native, former MLB baseball player, and current MLB coach Lloyd McClendon. Its mission was to expand the game of baseball / softball to Gary youth by introducing the game to kids ages 4-11.
During their inaugural year, Gary RBI partnered with MLB RBI, Home Field Advantage Foundation (HFAF), and the Boys & Girls Club to provide tee ball and minor league equipment for the 2018 baseball season.
